- Biography: Julie Turkewitz is a photographer, reporter and recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has interned at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Baltimore Sun, covering immigration issues, social trends and the pollution of an Atlanta neighborhood by a waste plant. She loves journalism because it allows her to explore new issues and meet new people every day. She will spend half of Summer 2008 as a photo intern at the (Raleigh) News & Observer and the other half working on a documentary project in Thailand. She plans to move to Buenos Aires in September.
