People across the country come from hundreds of miles around to visit New York City, and, especially for the first-timers, Times Square is their first destination. I, however, enjoy this pleasure every time I have to use the subway. As I headed home from work Tuesday night, I received a call from a friend telling me that "I had to get to Times Square, it looks crazy on TV right now." I was on my way to the subway anyway, so I told him I'd check it out. It turned out, he was right:
Actually, this is a picture of all the people who were there at the time. Hey, if ABC can make 75 people look like news, why can't I? At least Jay-Z was there (see the Rocawear billboard, top center of the picture). Due to the disappointing nature of the situation, I made my way to my friend's apartment, where I was afforded a great view of a very patriotic Empire State Building:
After a few hours there (not pictured) it was time to head back to the west side of the city. As I reached the Times Square station's lobby, I could hear a rumble coming from outside. Barack Obama had been officially projected to become the 44th President of the United States. Things looked a hell of a lot more like the news stations (and I) had made it look earlier in the night:
And a reverse angle:
Man, I run into this guy everywhere:
And, of course, it was business as usual for this guy. I'm sure Obama will soon take his rightful place next to Bob Marley, Tony Montana, Marilyn Monroe and the Jonas Brothers on this spread:
Here's some less than usual commerce in action (I don't even know what that means, but if it's Oprah approved...):
McCain's concession speech. As you can see, fewer paid attention to that one:
And finally, we were left with the words of President Elect Barack Obama:
Not a bad little Tuesday. I was going to try to make it to Home Depot, I just didn't have enough time.
