The AWEARNESS Blog provides daily updates under four socially-aware pillars of discussion: Social Rights, Well-Being, Political Landscape and Hard Times. This blog hopes to raise awareness around the issues that fall under these four areas in a dynamic and engaging format. In addition to regularly updated news and commentary under these topics, the blog also includes Q&As, original content from Kenneth Cole himself and contributions from staff members of Kenneth Cole Productions. There's a lot to delve into so we suggest you stop reading this boring intro stuff and get involved.
Hard Times
Poverty. Unemployment. Homelessness. Social insecurity. For issues like these we really need to spare some change. Give us your two cents to help put a hot meal of content on this table for others to consume, and give those less fortunate than ourselves some credit.Political Landscape
This terrain can be highly treacherous. Watch your step as you navigate the sifting sands of political agendas and government policies. Hopefully we can wipe away the slinging mud and scroll around for the truth that rarely dares to surface.Social Rights
Equality. Remember that? It's a mythical utopia most of us are still searching for. Let's stand up for the minorities and the moral injustices that many have to face every day. Let's discriminate against discrimination. Does that sound fair to you?Well-Being
Without our health, we have nothing. There are many things out there trying to harm us: AIDS; Pollution; Global Warming; Bird Flu; Medical bills. Some are natural, some are man-made, and unfortunately for us the list is endless. More posts here might be just the medicine we need.
It's good to feel needed.

It's a New Day

great sentiment kenneth, love this line.
Thank you for this billboard, Kenneth! Very excited, and still dragging a bit after watching the election well into the night.
Inspiring words, Kenneth. I look forward to what this change will bring.
Well said! I think the US and the rest of the world would agree. Go Obama!
Amen.
I saw a bumper sticker on the way in today that said, "Smart is back. Obama 2008." I'm hopeful for this new era where we can be smart and proud again.
Thank you, Kenneth! Across the nation, Barack Obama is truly setting a precedent for change. Looking forward to the next four years.
Obama's background is a true American story -- where else would he be elected leader? -- and, at the same time, a wild departure from our previous Presidents. Cheers to precedent, indeed, and hail to the chief!
I really hope that Barack Obama can bring together our beautiful country so we work together for a better future. As Oprah said last night, "It feels like there's a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen."
One of my students in the journalism course I teach at Hunter College commented recently on how much she loves the KC billboards, and this is right up there with the rest of them.
They're always pithy, clever, and most of all, true. They capture the zeitgeist of our era, and reflect in such a simple, succinct way what so many of us are feeling.
So thank you, and keep them coming.
today's edition of the new york times picked up on the billboard:

If McCain won, it would have said, "Out with the old... In with the older?" Hilarious.
This billboard is brilliant! Great motivation for the years ahead.
